See how your page title and meta description may look in Google results, and check their length before you publish.

Google may rewrite titles and descriptions. These limits are guides based on typical display widths, not rules.
What makes a good title and description
Page title
- Put the main topic first, then your brand
- Keep it unique for every page
- Aim for roughly 30 to 60 characters so it is not cut off
Meta description
- Say what the visitor gets from the page
- Aim for roughly 120 to 160 characters
- Write for people. Google may still choose its own snippet
Common questions
Does the meta description affect rankings?
Google says meta descriptions are not a ranking factor, but a clear one can improve how often people click your result.
Why does Google show a different title or description?
Google may rewrite them to better match the search. Writing a clear title and description that match the page content makes a rewrite less likely.
How long should a title be?
Titles are cut off by width, not by character count. About 600 pixels, usually 50 to 60 characters, is a safe guide.
Is my text sent anywhere?
No. The preview runs in your browser and nothing is sent or stored.
